Let me say that I bought this filter because I knew I needed some 77mm protection in front of my Nikkor zoom.
I figured it's a Nikon and well, it does more than the plain glass filter and isn't near as expensive as the thin polarizer. So, it has been on the front of my lens for a few months till the other day when I took it off for one shoot. I was in a hurry and it was smudged with fingerprints and had dust all over it so I just took it off. In the back of my mind I might have even thought it would be nice to have nothing between my subjects and the front element of my lens for a change.
One hour later as I was reviewing the images I was thinking what is with all the haze in my images? What is different? Did I not set up right?
Then I remembered! The difference was I took this filter off.
True story and needless to say it is always clean and on the front of my lens to stay. The difference without it was significant when shooting kite surfing on the open bay.
